Only a month away from the opening of the new fish market

posted on September 14, 2018

The Toyosu market is to begin trading on October11th. A ceremony was held on Thursday to mark the long delayed opening of the fish and produce market (click here) on the capital’s waterfront. The 400,000-square-meter-complex will replace the tourist friendly but aging Tsukiji market next month. The public access to the Tsukiji wholesale area will be allowed until September 29th (except Sundays and public holidays), but the retail section of the Tsukiji market will remain at the current spot and is open to public every day. The curtain of the Tsukiji’s 83 years of business will come down on October 6th.
